Distant Warning is an all original, five piece melodic rock band hailing from Colorado Springs. Ron (vox) and Duane (lead guitar) first formed the core of this band back in 1997. Since then they have played over 300 shows in over 70 venues across Colorado. They have 4 full length CDs and are currently working on their first DVD. Since each member of Distant Warning contributes to the writing, the band's unique sound is comprised of their various influences.
Take a bunch of melodic, old school metal such as IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA, and OZZY. Then mix in some elements of euro style metal like HELLOWEEN, STRATOVARIUS, and GAMMA RAY. Then throw in just a hint of prog and symphonic metal such as DREAM THEATER, SYMPHONY X and RHAPSODY. And there you have it! There's even a few power ballads and some bluesy stuff as well. Distant Warning has opened for national acts such as JACKYL, KISS ARMY, HEAD EAST, FRANK HANNON and EDGAR WINTER. They are also winners of 4 local battle of the bands competitions. Despite all this, Distant Warning has a reputation for being one of the more approachable bands around. Many have said that they are very easy to work with and never take themselves too seriously. They always take the time to meet and mix with the fans that come out, often signing autographs, CDs and t-shirts as well. Vocal harmonies, guitar harmonies, blistering guitar leads, earthshaking bass, and thunderous drums! That's what makes Distant Warning one of the region's favorite melodic rock bands. |
