Greetings DW fans!
I have a lot of news this month. At the last show we played, I announced that we were working on an acoustic project. I thought I'd give you a little progress report. We have been recording some acoustic renditions of your favorite DW songs since January of this year. Since all of our schedules are rather busy these days, we've only been able to work on it as time permits. But it's starting to come together nicely. I've made some rough mixes. You can check out some short clips on our Myspace page. We still have vocals and some guitars to track. Then I'll be busy mixing for a while. The CD is yet untitled, but I'm sure you guys will think of something clever.
Friday July 25th is Stephen's birthday! I think he'll be 86 or something. So if you happen to see him, wish him a happy birthday and offer him a ride back to the old folks home.
We have been invited to play at the 2008 Springs Foam Fest on Saturday August 2. Here's the low down! The event is sponsored by Old Chicago, Bristol Brewing Company, and Rock Bottom Brewery. The event goes from noon to 5pm. This year it's at Coleman Park, the soccer field located adjacent to Sky Sox stadium. (That's near Powers and Barnes, if you didn't know!) Enjoy over 25 Colorado Craft Brews, live music (from yours truly), complimentary food and games, and a free souvenir foam fest mug! Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Tickets are available at Old Chicago or call 591.8994 for more info. Proceeds to benefit the Miracle on Tejon Street, and Friends of Cheyenne Canyon. Distant Warning is playing at 3pm and it's a 90 minute set. Since it's a benefit show, we are prohibited from selling our merchandise during the event. However, contact us after and we will hook you up with some DW stuff! This will be an awesome party, so we want to see all of our loyal fans out there! Metal On! - D

Hello everyone. As you may know, former bandmember Mike Pittman suddenly passed away on August 27, 2007. The cause was due to an undiagnosed brain tumor. Mike fell into a coma and never recovered. Those who knew him will miss him greatly. He was known for his tremendous talent, kindness, honesty and wit. Mike was in DW for four years, and we're proud to have played with such a great musician and friend. We're truly honored to have met him. Our condolences go out to Mike's mom Doris, his kids Brandon and Brittany, his band "Hellstrum", and all his friends and fans out there whose life he touched with his gift. Vaya con Dios, brother.

Hello everybody! As you may know, Mike Pittman ended his tenure with Distant Warning back in September 2006. Since putting the call out, we have auditioned several talented drummers (and some not), but overall we were very pleased with the response we got. Thanks to everyone that applied and auditioned.
Having said that, I'm pleased to announce that Steve Larson is the new guy behind the kit. Steve's been jamming with us since January, and he's doing great learning the vast DW catalog. Also the new material is progressing nicely. His playing is simply amazing! He's been playing drums for 35 years, and he possesses a great mastery of jazz and progressive rock techniques. All that, and he's a pretty cool dude too! We hope to have some new photos of the band here very soon.
We still won't play out for a while because we're concentrating all our efforts on getting the new album done. Also, I've been completely overhauling our website as time permits. Stay tuned!
Duane
