Change is inevitable, a good friend once told me. And now it's time to say goodbye to that good friend. DISTANT WARNING drummer Dave Hancock has left the band. Due to recuring health problems, he is unable to continue playing with the group. His departure was also amicable, and we all wish him the best of luck in the future. He was one of the founding members of DW way back in 1993. Dave, we thank you for all the hard work and memories thoughout the last ten years. It was a good run. We hope you get well soon. Although parting is never easy, it's all a part of being in a band, and these things happen. Dave would like to convey to everyone that everything is cool and there are no hard feelings. On a related note, Mike Pittman, drummer extraordinaire for INSIDE STRAIGHT, has expressed an interest in replacing Dave, and we have accepted. We welcome Mike to the fold, and we hope to get back out there as soon as possible. There will be no more shows till 2003. This will give us some time to get Mike up to speed on the material, and give me time to get the new CD finished. I want to thank Dave for playing well last night despite his aches and pains. Thanks to Jeff for rockin with us on his last show. Thanks to Craig, Lee, and Lee's brother for moving our shit around for us (you guys rule!). Thanks to Ryan, Mike, and Hans for the support (and for putting up with my misinformation). Thanks to all the other bands we've played with this year. Thanks to all of our regular groupies, as well as some faces we hadn't seen in a while . I'll be getting Mike's info up on the website soon. Whew! That's about it. Dave, Jeff - we will miss you both, good luck. See you all next year! - Duane

Ok, ok! So I admit I've been a little slack on updating this section recently. (Not having added anything in over a year, sorry.) I believe in taking personal laziness to a new level here. Anyway, there's been a significant change in the band worth mentioning, so now is a good time to get you all caught up on the DW homefront. First off, rhythm guitarist Jeff Pleinis has decided to leave the band citing personal reasons. His departure was amicable and we wish him all the best. Before joining DW in 2000, Jeff was in a band called MetalFactor. He was a significant contributor to the material on the new album, tenatively titled "Desiree", and we're grateful for his input and effort on the project. There are no immediate plans to replace him at this time. We'll be taking a look at that once the album is released and we have a little more time to evaluate our direction. September 28th at Paradise City will be his last show. Good luck Jeff in all your future endeavors. You heard right, the long awaited demo to "Desiree" is almost done. It has 12 new songs and they're sounding great! We still need to finish up some vocals and some solos. It should be ready for mixing in a couple weeks. Unlike the previous demos, this one is recorded all digital on a standard PC with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9, and an SBLive soundcard. Not exactly pro stuff, but a huge improvement over the old analog crap we had before. We hope you like it. It took us 4 years to write (We're almost on track with Boston!). In other news, we've been playing out a lot this year thanks to Paradise City, and some venues in Denver that are supportive of our kind of music. Thanks to all our fans, new and old, who are coming out to the shows. I hope to make some more improvements to the site when I have time. That's pretty much all for now. See ya on the 28th! - Duane
